Description
Fishermans Friend lozenges were first created in Fleetwood, Lancashire, in 1865, when the town was the centre of the UK fishing industry. James Lofthouse, a young pharmacist, developed a strong liquid using menthol and eucalyptus, which the fishermen took to help relieve the ailments on their long voyages in freezing conditions. Later this liquid was developed into the well-known lozenges that today are loved around the world in over 80 different countries. Fishermans Friend is still produced in its home town of Fleetwood.
